The Utah Wing provides "Education through Living History"
Why We Are Here
We have two important missions. Our first and foremost duty is to preserve World War II military aviation history. We care not only about aircraft and artifacts, but also the aviation-related memories of the people who participated in or witnessed the war.
Our second mission is to share that history with others. We want especially to pass along the invaluable lessons World War II so clearly taught about achieving peace through strength and preparedness. Our goal is to help foster an appreciation of the remarkable achievements of Americans and free people around the world during that important era of our nation's history.
Each year, more Americans see the beauty, touch the metal, smell the smoke, and listen to the roar of the piston-engine aircraft operated by the CAF than visit all the other aviation museums in the United States. Because they still fly, they represent living history and make the CAF unique among aviation museums.
In addition to the aircraft entrusted to our care, the Utah Wing houses a significant collection of authentic World War II artifacts and memorabilia. Items on display in our museum include Allied country uniforms, as well as armament, photographs, weapons and equipment from both Allied and Axis countries.
The Utah Wing of the CAF is a self-supporting, all-volunteer, non-profit, tax-exempt organization registered in Utah. Funds to acquire, restore, maintain and operate aircraft are derived from members' dues, contributions, aircraft sponsors, and fundraising events. The CAF does not receive any state or federal grants. All donations, including dues and aircraft sponsorships, are used to support the Wing's museum and to restore, operate, and maintain our Ghost Squadron.
